A Collective Tarot Reading for the Week Starting November 27th

Hi ARMY! What a week it’s been. By which I mean of course that BTS are in LA, and have been on some very hot behaviour since arriving in the City of Angels. 


Hobi and maknae line went to see Harry Styles in concert and we got to see them vibing, drinking, singing along and enjoying themselves in a way that was just really special. Then, they attended the AMAs, where they performed (twice!) in front of a live audience for the first time in two years. Not only did they win 3 awards including Artist of the Year, it looked like they had a great time in the audience, my personal favourite part of which was their dancing during New Edition and New Kids On The Block’s joint performance. Compared to their debut 4 years ago at the AMAs, BTS are there this time as confident, mature artists who can navigate and have established their power in American spaces, but are still unapologetically themselves (see Jinkook on stage during their AOTY acceptance speech). 

The most exciting part of their time in LA, though, is just about to begin. I’m sure BTS have been hard at work preparing for their performances at the SoFi Stadium, and ARMY have been flying in from all over to attend their first in-person concerts post-pandemic. Whether you’ll be there or not, this next week is sure to be an intense one in many different ways. 


In light of this, I’ve pulled a collective check-in spread for you for this week. As usual, take what resonates from it and leave what doesn’t. I hope it can offer some insight, perspective and support for the week ahead.

Where you are now (current energy/situation)  - 10 of Cups Rx 

This week is a time where we’re moving through a process of transition and change, especially from an emotional and relational perspective. Whether this change happens suddenly or feels like it grows slowly, the amplitude of it could be somewhat overwhelming and you might feel like you’re overflowing at times. It’s a good time to reflect on the growth that’s happened for you in the past few months or even the past few weeks so that you can discern what’s still relevant, and what’s useful for you to empty out. It’s normal to be worried in the face of uncertainty or big emotions, but remember to let yourself be supported and grounded by the people you trust in your life. Have those heart-to-heart conversations. Make space for moments of joy and lightness, and be willing to let them be ephemeral, too. Let yourself be vulnerable when it feels safe, and be kind to yourself through any discomfort. 

Where you’re headed this week - The Moon

When so much that’s expected of us is control, there can be a freedom to moving on pure instinct and feeling. Fantasy, dreaming and unstructuredness may feel particularly attractive this week. On the one hand, there is delight in getting lost, in surrendering to a kind of mystical undertow and to the call of the depths. On the other hand, our nervous systems and bodies do require some structure and sense of knowing to regulate themselves. It could be a good idea to think about some anchoring and grounding practices that you can easily use this week, in case there are moments where the confusion is uncomfortable, or you’re not quite sure what’s up and what’s down. This isn’t necessarily a week for trying to create rigid boundaries - it’s good for floating and letting yourself go with the water’s motion. But it could be helpful to work out where you personally need to draw the line between the fantastical and intangible, and what feels like solid earth. Between the dream, and its consequences.


Any challenges/obstacles you may encounter - The Hierophant

Difficulties or discomfort around knowledge, beliefs or ideas around knowing are an ongoing part of our experiences as we navigate the world. Sometimes, we want the structure and belonging granted by being part of other peoples’ narratives. This week you could be asked to get clear on what you feel are your personal truths. Equally, it might feel like you’re reaching for some kind of guidance or validation for your sense of knowing and your questions. The Hierophant also reminds you to trust your intuition around traditional or collective knowledge and practices. Let your body guide you, and know that you can use the information you take in to shape your own way of thinking. This is a challenge to be curious - to question hegemonic or dogmatic beliefs, while choosing to be continually apprenticed to what does deserve your respect. Let your teachers be non-human beings, strange occurrences, dreams, ancestral technologies or lineages of thinking. Give yourself agency as a learner, to keep searching.

Tools, resources and support available to you - Temperance Rx

Temperance reversed offers the knowledge that extremes of experience or emotion are in and of themselves, information. They aren’t necessarily places or states we want to stay in long-term, but there is a catharsis and a singularity to them that is sometimes necessary. Going that far out requires us to ask ourselves whether we know how to return to center - and whether we want to. There is no judgement in those questions, because Temperance understands that magic happens in flux, that alchemy is a science of mingling and motion, and that there are many possible ways to define equilibrium. The energy of this moment - the thrum and buzz of it - wants you to embrace multiplicity and let yourself feel the deliciousness of fully sinking into just being. Nevertheless, if anything feels too stuck or overwhelming, be honest with yourself and with those around you so that you can explore creative solutions. If you listen to your sense of stagnation or anticipation or disconnection, what spectrum of possibilities does that open up?

Actions or steps to take - Two of Cups Rx

All of these questions and explorations touch on the ideas of fluidity, adaptability and connection. You might have to rely on different markers of stability or familiarity, and an important aspect of navigating this week will be working out what you need in terms of your relationship to others and your environment. It’s likely that this will look different at different times, because our needs, desires and boundaries are forever in flux. Connection is a tidal dance of giving and receiving - the push and pull of waves where they meet land. Lean into the comfort and vulnerability of being held. Embrace being deeply moved, and sharing special moments with others. At the same time, don’t be afraid to carve out space for alone time or quiet when you need it. Checking in with yourself and your heart as a regular practice will only be helpful in both being open to beautiful, receptive experiences, and protecting the most tender parts of you.
