JUPITER IN PISCES

Happy birthday to our Capricorn king, Taehyung!

Tae is special. He’s an eccentric who is at once unplaceable and larger than life. He follows a particular set of personal standards while being unpredictable. He’s a lover of classical, timeless things who values surprising us with his individuality. He’s cheesy and cliché, and he gets away with it because he understands the power of what he presents and how he conveys meaning. Tae is a contrarian; what you see is what you get, but it always feels like he hasn’t shown us all of his cards just yet. All of this is to say that he represents what it means to be Jupiterian and Saturnian at the same.

Tae has a very interesting chart, because its power is divided between two of the diurnal (daytime) personal planets – Jupiter and Saturn. His natal Jupiter is in its own sign of Sagittarius, which makes it a loud, comfortable and resourced presence. Tae’s natal Jupiter can express itself clearly – it doesn’t have to question itself, or find scrappy or alternative ways to fulfill its role. It’s at ease with how it presents itself, which enables it to be straightforward about how it takes action in pursuit of (creating) meaning. His Jupiter in Sagittarius also governs his natal Saturn in Pisces, and if we trace the relationships between planets in his chart, Jupiter essentially oversees everyone else.

We might think, then, that everything in his chart leads back to Jupiter, and in some ways, it does. But Saturn in Jupiter’s sign is still Saturn, and Tae has four personal planets, including his Sun, in Capricorn and Aquarius, both of which are ruled by Saturn. To understand what this means, we have to look at what Jupiter and Saturn represent – their commonalities, and where they’re in conflict.

Jupiter is the largest planet, so naturally it represents abundance, exploration and creative potential. As a benefic planet — one whose nature inclines it towards bringing about positive outcomes — Jupiter also represents optimism and good fortune. To put it simply, Jupiter is a glass half full kind of planet. Saturn is the opposite. Saturn is a malefic planet, meaning its nature inclines it towards presenting challenges, and it is associated with discipline, authority and restraint. The two planets are at complete odds with each other. Jupiter wants to grow, expand and share, but Saturn pushes back and questions if we’ve earned it, and if what we’ve created is able to endure the test of time. Nevertheless, these planets belong to the daytime, making them players on the same team despite their differences. Broadly, they are interested in the larger-scale — in overarching narratives and patterns; intellectual understanding and philosophies.

When people describe Taehyung, they typically use words like confident, effortlessly cool, honest and comforting. Tae’s Jupiter in Sagittarius (rumored to be in the 1H) does mean he is not your stereotypical Capricorn, which may have been more evident when he was younger. Showing up to the BigHit audition in support of his friend, and actually being the one recruited instead is the embodiment of Jupiterian luck!  As he has matured throughout the years, amassed more fame and responsibility, faced hardships and experienced loss, we’ve definitely seen Taehyung become more reserved and serious, which lends to his Saturnian side. It might seem like a bad thing, but in reality Tae has reserved his playful side and bright bits of optimism for when it’s authentic to him, which makes it much more meaningful. Taehyung doesn’t just give for the sake of giving. This is the nature of a Jupiterian/Saturnian - when they give, they give in abundance, but only when they feel it’s necessary, and they’re able to honor their personal needs through strong boundaries. His words of wisdom are some of the most healing, because they are raw and relatable. Whether he’s spamming on Weverse or thirst trapping on Instagram, the sincerity of his generosity is unmatched.

This year, Jupiter moves into Pisces on Tae’s 26th birthday – the 29th of December in most of the world – after two years in Saturn’s signs of Capricorn and Aquarius. It will stay in the mutable water sign until December 2022, bar a 5-month transit through Aries between May and October. Jupiter in Pisces, like in Sagittarius, is in its home sign or comfort zone. Whereas in the fire sign we might think of the symbolism of a lightning bolt – the moment of divine or creative inspiration, the external manifestation of a desire to expand –, Jupiter in its nocturnal sign of Pisces is more subtle and diffuse.

Part of Jupiter’s archetypal role is that of the Sage or the Wise One, and we see that in both of the signs it rules. In Pisces, Jupiter tends towards gathering, connecting and bringing together – like water does. It asks us to pair power and impulse with wisdom and internal reflection. And it encourages us towards dreaming, visioning and practices of hope.

For Taehyung, this Jupiter in Pisces transit will likely be significant, especially if he’s a Sagittarius rising as ARMY astrologers hypothesise. Regardless of houses, Tae has Saturn in Pisces — and as we’ve established, both Saturn and Jupiter are major players in his chart. Transiting Jupiter (as it is in the sky day to day) will first form a sextile to his Sun in early Capricorn, before passing over his natal Saturn in March 2022. From there, it will also sextile his Mars and Mercury in late Capricorn before moving into Aries. Sextiles are sweet transits, especially when they involve benefics — they tend to speak to Venusian themes of connection, pleasure, joy and creativity.

With this aspect occurring between his Pisces and Capricorn houses, we’re looking at the relationship between structure and flow. The questions that come up for him might revolve around how he can use his motivation, actions and resources to channel his creative energy and inspiration. What boundaries and rules does he need to set for himself to best help his visions come to fruition? Jupiter transiting his natal Saturn will echo these themes of bringing his material actions into alignment with his invisible priorities to create meaning. If we want to dive under the waves, we have to be prepared for the pressure. If we want to write a work of fiction, we need to be able to transition from imagination to the page.

If Taehyung is a Sagittarius rising, Jupiter is not only a powerful planet in his chart but also the ruler of his 1st house — in some ways his guide as he navigates life. This is why Jupiter transits are particularly important for Sagittarius and Pisces rising people. Its return into a home sign after two years is a significant transit for all of us, but especially for these Jupiterians. If we go with a Sagittarius rising chart for Tae, Jupiter will be transiting his 4th house. This is a place that encompasses where we come from, the unknown and hidden, our roots, and our private life amongst other things. It may be that we’ll see him sharing more intimate details of his life with us — his day to day via Instagram and social media, for example. We might also get more behind the scenes peeks at his creative processes! Overall, Jupiter in Pisces should make a positive difference to his general energy levels, optimism and inspiration while supporting a sense of grounding. The contentment could well bring a sense of stability and inner peace that will trickle down into his creative pursuits. Who knows, maybe this is the solar return year for a mixtape, or a return to acting for him!
