Serendipity by Anna Grindrod-Feeny

Happy birthday to our favorite Libra, the one and only Park Jimin! Our team of ARMY tarot readers has designed a series of spreads based on the incredible solos that Baby Mochi has blessed us with over the years, and nothing puts the “lovely” in cutie sexy lovely like “Serendipity”.

Since “Serendipity” is first and foremost a love song, I’ve designed a basic relationship reading to help you gain clarity on any potential partnerships in your life. Although often associated with romance, relationship readings in tarot can refer to many forms of love - from the romantic love portrayed in “Serendipity” to the platonic love that VMinKook sing about in “Friends” and Begin”, the familial love portrayed in “MAMA”, the self-love so hauntingly captured in “Epiphany” that makes up the foundation of BTS’ Love Yourself message, and even the deep love between BTS and ARMY that transcends all labels and definitions.

This spread can be used to examine any major pairings within your own life in whatever form love takes for you - even between different aspects of yourself. The card positions are as follows:

BF4A9FA4-CB18-41AF-B91A-35022A9D54FF.png

Card 1: 푸른 곰팡이 - I’m Your Calico Cat: What you bring to the relationship

Card 2: 삼색 고양이 - You’re My Penicillin: What the other person brings to the relationship

Card 3: 우주가 우릴 위해 움직였어 - The Universe Has Moved For Us: The magic you create together

With any tarot spread involving another person’s thoughts and feelings, it’s important to be mindful of how you conduct the reading. Getting a general sense of the situation is fine, but using the cards to delve too deeply without their consent and input can cross into ethical grey areas and may also leave you with a skewed and unhelpful perspective. This is less a spread about fully understanding another’s thoughts and feelings but rather how your two energies play off one another and how that impacts the situation at hand.

To demonstrate, I’ve put together a little reading on the relationship between BTS and ARMY as a whole for all our (cutie, sexy) lovely readers.

Card 1 - The High Priestess: What ARMY brings to this relationship is a sense of mystery and otherworldly power. The High Priestess governs intuition, magic, and that which cannot fully be explained. She urges a deeper understanding of yourself as well as a willingness to connect with things that are slightly outside the realm of logic and reason. When most outsiders speak of BTS, it’s with an air of disbelief at just how much they’ve been able to achieve and the loyalty that they command from their fans. But BTS themselves will tell anyone who listens that it’s ARMY who got them to this point and that, though they may not fully understand the almost miraculous connection they have with the fandom, it is the most precious thing to them and the secret to their success.

Card 2 - The Devil: What BTS brings to this relationship is a little bit of temptation (Pied Piper, anyone?) but also the assurance that no matter what obstacles we face, it’s something that can be overcome. Not only have they mastered their own fears to rise to the very top of the music industry, but every day they inspire members of ARMY to do the same. How many of us can say our lives have been forever changed for the better because of discovering this band? The Devil’s greatest power is its ability to turn our doubts and insecurities against us, but its greatest lesson is that we are stronger than all of that. No matter how many times we fall, no matter how many mistakes we make, this band of 7 remarkable men always challenges us to get up and try again.

Card 3 - Two of Cups: I could not have planned this better if I tried. The Two of Cups is often referred to as the soulmates card. It represents the strong emotional connections that elevate our best qualities and help us rise to new levels that we could never have reached on our own. It’s a reminder that the best love is mutually beneficial and empowering. In “Serendipity”, Jimin sings of a love where both partners bring the best of themselves to one another, offering both healing (penicillin) and comfort (calico cat) to the point where their connection is so strong that it feels like the world was made for them and even destiny is jealous. Though it may not make sense to others, the connection between BTS and ARMY is one that is so strong and so positive that it almost seems predetermined. It’s a reminder of the fact that any relationship we pour our heart and soul into must be with someone who reciprocates in equal fashion, bringing joy, comfort, and love to everyone involved.

Ultimately this spread (and the song “Serendipity” itself) embodies the essence of Park Jimin, because there are few in this world who are so willing to show their love for those around them and are so loved by others in return. We can see it in the care he shows his members, in the thoughtful presents, the physical affection, and kind words he showers upon them. We can see it in his overwhelming adoration for ARMY. We can even see it in the pride and joy his parents take in him, his father’s careful display of all of Jimin’s hats in his cafe in Busan and the bouquets of flowers he sent his beloved son after every show.

Jimin is love personified, and I hope this spread encourages you to celebrate his special day by directing your affection toward your nearest and dearest, showering them with all the love that they deserve and accepting nothing less than that in return.

Filter by Kat F.

더 짜릿한 걸 볼 수 있게 pick your filter

“So that you can see something more electrifying, pick your filter”

Happy birthday to our Libra king, Park Jimin! This 3-card spread is inspired by his solo song, Filter, which he created the concept for. Jimin expresses his desire as an artist to present different sides of himself, to explore and play with new perspectives.

On some level, I think we can all relate to feeling stagnant with where we’re at—whether it’s our career, relationships, personal style, or hobbies. Perhaps there’s resistance or fear to reaching outside of our typical comforts. Know that you can always turn down the noise by looking inwards, by excavating unseen parts of yourself… solely for your own self-love!

늘 똑같은 건 재미없잖아

“Being the same all the time is not fun”

This spread offers reflection into how we can discover and integrate our dualities without judgement of ourselves. Use it to channel some cutie sexy lovely energy and pull out your own filters that are craving to be used!

Card 1 - What parts of me want to be seen?

Card 2 - How can I honor and integrate these parts of me moving forward?

Card 3 - What changes in myself would this bring?

Here’s a reading I did for myself as an example! The Empress is the archetype within me that desires to be seen. This card drips in abundance and the openness to give and receive love. There is a regal confidence to The Empress on their throne; a confidence from knowing that they are worthy. I can honor and integrate this part of me with the sharpness of the Page of Swords. This card invites me to speak my truth, which sets boundaries and expectations for myself and others. Lastly, by doing so, I can expect to find clarity on what’s been holding me back via the Six of Swords. Although it can be a painful decision, I must leave behind old wounds and explore something new for myself.

Lie by Kirstin Wu

Happy birthday week to our beloved Libra, Park Jimin!

Jimin shines in the way he expresses emotions through performance, bringing a special kind of intimate intensity to every song.

‘Lie’ is a song that explores questions around duality, the pain that comes with self-judgment, and how to move forward when we feel trapped by our circumstances or when our sense of self feels fragmented. As these kinds of emotions can arise in different ways for many of us, I created a spread for times when you feel stuck, disconnected from yourself, or unable to find a sense of compassion for your experience.

I hope it can offer clarity, perspective and grounding - and remind you that there is nothing inherently wrong with you, no matter what you’re going through. This spread is designed to help you set down the ways you’ve been fighting yourself and instead think about how you can take care of yourself as you shed old skins, find acceptance and gentleness, and return to yourself even as you grow and change.

A Spread for Returning to Yourself

Card 1 - What fears/internalised beliefs are keeping me trapped?

Card 2 - What new ways of being are wanting to be set free?

Card 3 - How can I transform these fears and beliefs?

Card 4 - Next steps to take in this period of growth.

Card 5 - What practical tools are here to support me through this process?

Card 6 - What softness is here to soothe and sustain me?

Jimin has shown us time and time again that love, self-love and self-acceptance are defined through action - through how we connect to one another and ourselves, through persevering, and through allowing ourselves to be supported in relationship to others. I hope this spread can help you find a sense of direction, as well as serve as a gentle reminder of the different forms of connection and softness available to you, even when things feel at their most turbulent and uncertain.
