VIRGO SEASON
Happy Virgo Season! On August 22, 2022 the Sun moves into the Mercury-ruled, mutable Earth sign of Virgo. Following the confident and creative energy of Leo season, Virgo season marks the tail end of summer in the Northern Hemisphere. We're invited to digest all we've learned, sinking back into our bodies to feel out and reflect on the shifts (The Hermit energy)—and to marinate on what seeds we commit to plant next. Virgo season is also before the more relationship-focused energy of Libra season, thus carving out space for discerning where we end and others begin, in order to be of service.
Virgos can often be portrayed as nit-picky, critical perfectionists, where the advice for the season is to create todo lists and deep clean your house. But there is a fluidity and flexibility to mutable Virgo—because to be a knowledgable alchemist, they must be adaptable vessels of the material realm. Virgo channels that into transformational magic of the mundane—where they assert things don't _have_ to be this way if we don't want them to. There is potential for different, for better. Dissatisfaction for a Virgo is a neon sign of where to deploy care and research.
I think a great way to embody Virgo is to be that agent of mundane magic by finding the sweet spot between reality vs. what seems out of grasp, and closing in on that gap with curiosity. What am I still digesting? What could be different? What do I still not know? Virgo is a sign that wants to do the work to get to the core of something, to be able to hold the prism in their hands and observe every reflection. The idea of legacy and withstanding strategies is often a motivation (Ten of Pentacles energy). Assess what is worth sacrificing for, what depths are worth funneling your energy towards.
Virgo is also the sign of the healer and healing, attracted to the act of purifying—hence the Virgin symbology (and perhaps clean-freak stereotypes). Sometimes this can manifest as taking on more than one has capacity for, and wanting to do it all perfectly. Can you find a rhythm this season to apply your soothing witchcraft on your laboring body and buzzing mind? On your communities and land? Can you create energetic boundaries to rest and recover, especially after a stimulating past couple of months?
Astrologically, note that Mercury will be stationing retrograde in Libra on September 9, and moves back into Virgo on September 23, where it remains until October 2, 2022. Mercury Retrogrades are times for reflecting and reassessing what in our lives may need our attention. This retrograde will be ruling both the Sun and Venus, when Venus moves into Virgo on September 4. Take a step back, slow down, and take care with the way you're communicating with others IRL and in digital spaces. It's a great time to revisit your strategies for engaging in ways that are life-affirming!
Lastly, we can't forget to shoutout our Virgo line—Kim Namjoon and Jeon Jungkook's Virgo Suns, Jungkook's exalted Virgo Mercury, and Min Yoongi's Virgo Moon. Namjoon and Jungkook are different flavors of Virgo Suns, with Namjoon's brain being a posterchild of Virgo's critical analysis and groundedness. JK speaks fewer words with the same intent and impact, and gets to the core of how to do something like it's nothing.
Our Min Yoongi's Virgo Moon has him doing it all in a way that makes you wonder how he has time for everything. Yoongi makes investments to enrich his future self, and ultimately support his boys as a group member. I love that his Pisces sun and moon are on the Virgo-Pisces axis, perhaps giving him a deeper understanding of just how much work goes into creating boundaries that allow for more love and care.
Soak up the remainder of summer this Virgo Season by remembering how far you've come, and that we're all just humans trying to figure out life right now!!
